2 Houses in Ponte de Lima

2 Houses Ponte de Lima by Simone Brombin (t)This is a reconstruction of the 2 houses in Ponte de Lima by famed architect Souto de Moura. This work has been done to study the composition of the 3D scene and in detail, the ambient light, vegetation and all the post-processing work. First, I wanted to experiment with different lighting conditions, such as a sunny day, sunset and sunrise. I used different lighting techniques to recreate the right atmospheric conditions as VRaySun and VRaySky or HDRI lighting. Simone Brombin

Crestfallen

I’ve been in the 3D game for over a dozen years now and in all this time I’ve resisted making the archetypical ‘Nude Woman In A Temple With A Sword’ image …until now, that is :)  So here she is in all her splendor: a Nude Woman. a Sword. a Temple, and even some Frikken Fairies thrown in for good measure.  —Gabriel “Blackhearted”

David’s Bow

Throughout the Middle Ages to the present day, Michelangelo’s David has been erected on its pedestal. David is 5 meters by itself, and a total of 7 meters with the pedestal. No one can reach to David as to get out in the same picture in a photo. I dreamed that David crouched on one knee with his hand extended toward a child trying to reach him. The first was posing to David in his crouched position by using a low-poly model using Zbrush to detail it for four months, using a lot of reference photos from the internet. After all, the touching hands relate to another famous painting by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, the famous fragment of God and Adam.  —Taha Alkan

A Tea For 2

The picture was taken somewhere in a town of Italy in a small violin shop of a violin maker named Carla. The photo was taken by Professor Aldo, a teacher from School of Children who visited her that afternoon, that has interest with violins and a crush of her. Prof. Aldo took this photo, while she was making some tea for them and he happened to capture the moment of frolan (the cat) looking curiously at the pigeon using his Leica 35mm M Summicron. It was a fine afternoon to end it with a tea for two…  —Peter Ang

Chaplin

As you can see in my images with material override -the monochromatic scene- showing only the ambient illumination to see if the lights coming from the window and IES lights are enough for the scene. Once it’s ok to my preferences, I apply all materials, reflections, etc. to the scene.  —Zernan Suarez

Daegu Public Library competition

The project for the new Daegu Gosan Public Library [by Kim Hyun Seok, Alberto Casarotto, Linda Larice] – a new hub of culture, knowledge and relationships – draws upon the idea of public “space”, which is open, visible and recognizable by anyone. The building draws inspiration from and imitates the lightness of turning the pages of a book through the superimposition of four main floor slabs that partially fold in the wind.  —Cristian Chierici
