Tara

My initial idea was to go for a virtual pinup, but with the express decision not to over-sexualise her. I’ve been a fan of  Tara McPherson for a long time and although the final image doesn’t bear much resemblance to her work it did serve as a creative and directional springboard for me. I found some 60′s pinup photos of minidress clad girls lounging on the floor listening records and thought that these kind of images were iconic and fun to riff on. After more web research, the chair, headphones, tape recorder and set were quickly built and textured in less than a day and the composition was roughly laid out before doing first test poses.  —Nik Faulkner

Let There Be Nerds!

This scene is about a famous hollywood director, for whom I have a great respect. Based on a moment of his trajectory that changed everything.Legend tells late in the seventies, he signed a contract in wich he traded a high salary for merchandising rights of his characters. This single decision made everything he’s pursued ever since suddenly possible, opening the gates for a whole new industry. And ultimately lead to my passion for Computer Graphics, the way that it is.  —Mauricio Salgueiro

Box Character [series]

This character is not created by me is one of the famous manga Yotsuba… I was inspired by the work of photographer Anton Tang… the first time I came across this work I immediately wanted to reproduce some of his work in bringing my personal touch and that’s what happens…  —Herve Adjam Sodangbe

Rock Chick

The image was commissioned by an advertising agency, along with 11 others for a calendar for an electronics component company. Through client indecision and changes, I created a total of 17 anime styled female characters for the project from DJ’s, a fighter pilot, a halloween she devil to a fashion model and a coast guard 🙂  —Adam Benton

X-23 vs Lady Deathstrike

Diorama. here’s the Zbrush images of the piece* note that the snow is different, we changed that at the end, but I didn’t do any complete rotations with the new snow. *along with one image of the printed/cast/painted piece. Paints by Kat Sapene. Prints by Morpheus.  —Adam Ross

Furniture Cluster

I got the idea for this image, when i had modeled some furniture for architectural vizualisation renderings and then thought about throwing everything together. I carefully moved and rotated the furniture to build a large cluster. This was actually the hardest part. I’ve then added a really simple environment – a room with 3 windows(at the right, not visible). To make it more interesting I’ve cut a hole in the ceiling and placed a biped on top of the furniture. I first thought about creating an own character, but I didn’t want to spend that much time on this image, so I’ve just used a chrome biped. To add some mood I’ve also added some volume light.  —Mathias Koehler

Black Wires

This is a work derived of a previous freelance work. I was commissioned to create different outfits and themes for two different girls and a dude. I had to rebuild the original model from scratch for this task. After that I decided to create several different pin-ups in hi-res with better materials, light and textures, being this the second one of a series of 9.  —Carlos Ortega Elizalde
